The national supply of insect repellent spray in Brazil has been completely depleted through apparent internal manipulation.
In a contemptible operation carried out by foreign agents, the supply of insect repellant has been depleted--the supply of which was in high demand due to the looming presence of the Zika virus. The plan’s apparent motive was reported to have been an attempt to gain advantage in the outcomes of upcoming rowing events. However, poor intelligence and failures in internal communication have resulted in the entirety of the supply being dumped in the Guanabara Bay, creating unknown but possibly serious environmental consequences.
The actions have been severely reprimanded by Brazilian and international authorities, and the process is undergoing heavy investigation.
Civilian security comes into question, as the only source of insect repellant in Rio is defaulted to the IOC’s recently innovated anti-mosquito “sleeve”, in which sales have recently been projected to go down due to the public’s dissatisfaction with the effectiveness of the product and its alleged physical effects in producing “mulberry rashes” and itchy, red patches on the wearers’ arms.
