The International Olympic Committee is greatly saddened by the events that have disrupted the once pristine nature of the Olympic Games. However, the IOC will not stand in silence to the criminal acts committed by representatives of the Games. According to the Olympic Charter, the IOC may exercise the right to "take action against any form of discrimination and violence in sport". Official investigations conducted by the IOC have confirmed that competitors from the Federal Republic of Germany has committed acts of violence at the Games. As of immediate notice, all competitors and government officials from the German delegation are suspended from activity in the Olympic Games indefinitely. Lü Huihui, the Chinese javelin competitor, will also be suspended indefinitely. Should acts of this nature continue, the IOC will proceed in exercising its right to suspend delegations that break the Charter of the Olympic Movement.
