An earlier truck bomb found within Rio’s Olympic Village has been found to have been driven by a Russian National.
Earlier this week the vehicle was stopped upon entering the athlete’s village and its occupant arrested after explosives were found after a routine check of the back of the truck. Initial reports concerning the driver’s identity were unsubstantiated, but can now be confirmed as Russian citizen Roma Ermolai Konstantinov.
Upon questioning, Konstantinov initially refused to state who he was working for, and what he hoped to accomplish with the truck bomb, although he staunchly denied being part of the previous day’s bombings.
Brazilian investigators said it was unclear who the national was working for, if anybody.
