Two Brazilian Politicians Assassinated

Two Brazilian Politicians Assassinated

CNN

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - Earlier today two Brazilian political officials were confirmed to have been assassinated while enjoying their time at two separate Olympic sporting events within Rio de Janeiro.

Retired General Júlio Soares de Moura Neto and current Mayor of Belo Horizonte Marcio Lacerda were killed within 10 minutes of one another, leading to suspicions that their assassinations were connected, due to the closeness of the killings and due to the type of weapon used. Each of the men were killed by using silenced rifles and it is believed that they were shot from a high, angled distance.

The ODP has been implicated, but there is no clear evidence of their involvement. It is entirely possible that the fraught Temer presidency could be behind these attempts, but news from this confirmed assassination is wholly speculative.

Story will be updated as new reports come in.
